Do You Have A Blog?

Updated: Jun 19, 2020

I am sitting at work with one of my favorite co-workers. We are casually talking about work stuff and randomly she says to me, "Jaime, do you have a blog?"  Have you ever been caught with your hand in the cookie jar?  Well, I have! And that is what I felt like in this moment. See, what my lovely co-worker did not realize is that I have been writing blogs for years, just not publishing them. I used to share them MySpace. Yep, I said MySpace. For those of you who are unaware of MySpace, it is the grandfather of Facebook.

Blogging serves a lot of different purposes for a lot of different people. Essentially, it is a platform for people to share their thoughts and ideas on a pubic platform. For me, it was an opportunity to scream out loud! Screaming, not because I am angry, but because I have something inside and I want to get out. Did I have any expectations when I got it out? Not sure really. Sometimes I just wanted to get the thoughts and ideas out of me and into the world...kind of like going outside and screaming. The sound didn't really do anything for outside, but I sure felt better after doing it; like a stress reliever. Other times my hope was to connect with others; hopefully inspire them. Give them new perspective or even begin conversations about something that could give me new perspective. The ability to connect and relate to other people's journey and experiences is what I think is one of the sweetest aspects of life.

So, if I had all of these positive thoughts and feelings about blogging why had I not done it more? The most honest answer I can give you, is I don't know. lol Maybe I didn't want to be bothered with the consistency of sharing. As I have gotten older, this known socialite has become quite anti-social. But at the core of me, no matter how long my moment(s) of not wanting to be bothered may last, my ultimate desire is to connect.

That is why I am so very grateful for my co-workers very unexpected question that was very much on time. Let me give you some background:we are at work, on the night shift, at the hospital, in the emergency room. It is June 3, 2020 and we are in the middle of an international pandemic called

Covid-19. At the same time, the world has erupted over the senseless brutal death of an unarmed black man named George Floyd, by police offers kneeling on his neck and back. It's a whole lot going on. With all that is going on externally in the world, it has caused many thoughts and emotions on the inside for many, if not all of us.

So tonight, I reactive/start my blog writing career, to get it all out...to connect...to engage. As I find my release here, I hope that you find your release and voice here. Alex, asking me "Do I have a Blog" for me was not much about the actual platform, but I felt as if she was asking if I have something to say...something to offer. During this time we have to be willing to speak and share our truths first with ourselves and then  others. We need to go outside and SCREAM! We need an opportunity to get out, what has been in in the hopes of making it through these moments of this time. Making it through with our sanity. Making it through better than when we started. Making it through...TOGETHER. The more we have proper self reflection helps us to have healthier public projection.

You may not have a blog, but I guarantee you have something to say.You have something to offer. If nothing else, I hope that my blog serves as YOUR MIRROR to help you Willingly Risk Introspection for Transformation and Elevation.  Let the #iwrite revolution begin.

Thank you Alex!
